With FITE, Dermalogica gives purpose to an industry made up by women

In a nutshell

In 2011, Dermalogica launched FITE, which stands for Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship. This educational programme focusses on economic empowerment of women, being the key to solving gender inequality. The program has raised global awareness and generated microloans for women in developing countries to invest in their businesses and families.

What are the outcomes and impact?

Since the launch, joinFITE has funded over 1,381 women entrepreneurs to start or grow their businesses; has facilitated lending of over $900,000 in new capital; has engaged over 36 million people in educational dialogue on the importance of investing in women; and was spotlighted by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon during remarks he made in 2012.

In Summary

“70 percent of the world’s poorest people, are women. Being in the skincare business, in an industry made up of women, it made so much sense that we come together as a tribe under FITE” – Nathalie Byrne, Director of Global Impact Dermalogica
